Panasonic Eluga hits Japan next week, Europe in April

Panasonic Eluga gets dated for Japan and Europe

Panasonic's extra-thin Eluga smartphone has edged closer to release with more concrete launches for Japan and Europe. Its home country is getting the Android 2.3 hardware as the P-04D on March 29 through NTT DoCoMo. That carrier is getting a special Deep Purple hue instead of the normal black.

In sync with the Japanese details, Panasonic Europe has teased that the Eluga is coming to the region in April. It remained open as to which carriers would have it and whether or not they would get any extras.

In either region, the centerpiece is an 0.3-inch thick body that's genuinely waterproof and dustproof to moderate levels. Although it has a large 4.3-inch, 540x960 AMOLED display, a narrow bezel helps minimize the total size. A dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP processor gives it mid-tier performance, although a thicker version with a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 and a 720p display is coming.

Panasonic is believed to be aiming for a US release at some point, although plans haven't been hinted at so far.
