YouTube to automatically improve uploaded videos

updated 04:40 pm EDT, Wed March 21, 2012

YouTube will color-correct, stabilize user videos

Following up on offering a basic video editor last year, YouTube has now introduced a way of automatically improving the quality of videos. By simply agreeing to the changes, users can have their moving images stabilized or color-corrected. Only videos flagged for improvement will be changed, with users seeing a notification and a preview of the changes.

The edited video can be undone later if the changes don't look as good as during the preview. Mobile videos can also be improved, but the notifications and changes approval will come to the desktop Video Manager.

The update will arrive over the next few days, with the YouTube team promising that other factors will be added to the list of potential improvements later.
