Dell XPS 13 upgrade sorts trackpad, fan troubles

updated 06:15 pm EDT, Wed March 21, 2012

Tweaks address early glitches

Dell has released several updated drivers for its XPS 13 ultrabook, addressing hardware issues that have affected the new device. A touchpad driver is designed for improved multi-touch functionality, including scrolling performance and palm recognition to avoid accidental input.

A second update tweaks the BIOS settings, fine tuning the thermal management system for quieter operation with less fan noise in certain situations.

Dell began shipping the XPS 13 late last month, following the January unveiling at CES. The MacBook Air competitor offers a 13.3-inch display, a 128GB SSD and a 1.6GHz Core i5 processor in the basic configuration, though customers can also upgrade to a Core i7 chip and a 256GB SSD. [via The Verge]
