Motorola Droid Fighter spied with 720p, likely Android 4.0

Motorola Droid Fighter seen as spin on RAZR

Motorola's rumored Droid Fighter has been spotted for the first time with a sign of an at once familiar and new strategy for Motorola. Chinese forum MFunz's lone photo shows a smartphone very similar to the Droid RAZR, but with a 4.6-inch "HD" (likely 720p) screen that's pushed more to the edges. No physical touch buttons are in sight, suggesting it will use Android 4.0's onscreen keys like the Galaxy Nexus.

Also mentioned was a possibility that it would have a 3,300mAh battery like the Droid RAZR MAXX and relatively lengthy battery life as a result. The inclusion of LTE-based 4G is certain given both the conspicuous Verizon badging and an insistence by that carrier that all smartphones from 2012 onwards have LTE inside.

If it ships in tune with leaks, the Droid Fighter could be on shelves on April 12. Its release might anger many existing Motorola owners. Motorola has pushed most Verizon Android 4.0 updates to summer or later and could be shipping brand new phones with the OS months before current owners get their own updates. A chance exists that Google might unveil Jelly Bean, the next major Android release, at Google I/O in June and before Motorola customers get the older build. [via Droid-Life]
