Nokia Lumia 719 seen as China-, Americas-bound Windows Phone

updated 10:35 pm EDT, Sat March 17, 2012

Nokia Lumia 719 leaks out

A posting on China's Weibo microblogging service has helped confirm a Nokia Windows Phone that had previously only been hinted at. The Lumia 719 appears to be a cosmetic spin on the Lumia 710, with a new button layout and chin but some familiar cues. Its most notable shift might be its radio support. The post referred to China Telecom's CDMA, and China's SRRC had greenlit the device for GSM in an indication that it should be a dual-mode phone that could work with other carriers and countries.

Tips have pointed to it being more like the 710 in other areas, such as the 3.7-inch ClearBlack LCD and a five-megapixel back camera. There's no immediate confirmation that it would have a front camera, although the 1.4GHz Snapdragon processor will put it ahead of most Windows Phones for performance.

The 719 is expected to first show at Nokia's March 28 event in China, where it could appear as a China-specific 719C variant. It may not be limited to that country and is believed coming to Asia and both North America as well as South. T-Mobile and Rogers carry the existing Lumia 710 in what's a sign that other US and Canadian carriers might be next. [via LiveSide]
