ITC upholds view Motorola didn't violate Apple patents

ITC issues final ruling on Apple vs Motorola case

The International Trade Commission issued a final ruling (PDF) later on Friday upholding its view that Motorola didn't violate Apple patents in one dispute. It reviewed one concern each for the three patents under dispute but maintained the verdict it had delivered in January. The verdict was coming two months ahead of an original May 14 target.

Apple can choose to appeal the verdict and is likely to do so if it wants to keep pressure on Motorola.

The decision doesn't end a matching civil suit and also doesn't end conflicts at the ITC. Motorola has its own challenge to Apple with an expected April 23 initial ruling and an August 23 final determination. Apple could potentially bring a number of legal actions to a halt through a lawsuit over Qualcomm patent suits that would prevent at least civil action against iPhone devices. [via Florian Mueller]
