OS X Lion Server also updated
In addition to a second developer preview of Mountain Lion released earlier today, Apple has given developers the first external beta of OS X Lion 10.7.4. The 508MB delta, which is labelled build 11E27, would be the fourth maintenance update to OS X Lion. Release notes indicate only one known bug, but asks developers to focus testing on several different areas. Separately, the company also released a matching beta for OS X Lion Server.
The beta, which is limited to those with OS X developer accounts only, notes an issue related to the inability to play purchased iTunes content in QuickTime, AppleInsider notes. Testers are asked to focus on Mail, graphics, iCal, AddressBook and printing.
The Lion Server version of the update, which weighs in at 622MB, asks for testing on the Server App, Web Server, WebDAV sharing and ServerAdmin DNS in addition the areas outlined in the non-server release. A final release date on either version remains unknown. [via AppleInsider]

Fix what you broke
I'd be happy if they fixed what they broke when they went to SMBX rather than try to sell me yet another new operating system.
