Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus gets UK release date

updated 03:05 pm EDT, Fri March 16, 2012

Android 3.2 phone hits stores tomorrow

Samsung will begin shipping its Galaxy Ace Plus smartphone in the UK tomorrow, March 17. The mid-range handset, announced in January, sports a slightly larger display than its predecessor, the Galaxy Ace. The refreshed model also bumps up processor speed.

Although the display resolution remains the same, 320x480, the screen size has grown to 3.65-inches from 3.0-inches. The Qualcomm processor is now a 1GHz Snapdragon S1 versus the original's 800MHz chip. VGA recording is now at 30fps, up from 20fps. The internal memory has improved from a small 158MB to 3GB, while RAM has doubled to 512MB. The rear facing camera still shoots at five megapixels, however. The Ace Plus, like its predecessor, will continue to ship with Android 2.3 preloaded, and not the more recent Android 4.0 (ICS).

The mid-range phone will be carried by several UK carriers, including Vodafone. Pricing will depend on the provider. [via Pocket-lint]
