Leaked Tango ROMs surface for HTC HD2, Samsung Omnia 7

updated 09:50 pm EDT, Thu March 15, 2012

Early builds appear ahead of official update

A Windows Phone Tango build has reportedly surfaced ahead of the formal update, which will be relabeled 7.5 Refresh when it arrives. Unofficial developers quickly jumped on the leak, crafting unofficial ROMs for HTC's HD2 and Samsung's Omnia 7 handsets.

The final Tango release is expected to bring memory optimizations, performance improvements and expanded localizations, among other enhancements.

Nokia is expected to introduce three Lumia handsets running Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh near the end of the month. An update time-frame for existing devices remains unclear, however, as the builds must pass through the handset manufacturers and carriers in most cases. [via WMPoweruser and XDA-Developers]
