Sony Xperia S gets promised PlayStation games

The PlayStation Store for the Sony Xperia S has now gone live. The Xperia S launched as a PlayStation Certified device, however, it started shipping before the associated store was active, leaving users without any access to PlayStation games. Users can now access 14 original 32-bit classic PS One titles including Twisted Metal, Kula World, Driver and Rayman, although two additional titles are reserved only for the Xperia Play.

To enable to the PlayStation Store functionality, users need to enable non-Market applications in Settings > Applications and then run "Let's start PS store" in the app tray. Users will then need to log in to an existing Sony Entertainment Network (formally PlayStation Network) account, or create one.

With all of Sony's 2012 smartphone range to carry PlayStation Store certification, the new market for apps is likely to expand over the coming 12 months. The Xperia P, U and ion, as well as the new Xperia sola are all PlayStation Store Certified, though unlike the PS Vita or the Xperia Play, users will interact with the games using on-screen virtual game pads.
