SKT briefly hints Galaxy S II getting Android 4.0 this week

updated 10:25 am EDT, Mon March 12, 2012

Galaxy S II to get Android 4 in South Korea

SK Telecom has breifly tweeted that it will begin updating the Samsung Galaxy S II handsets of its subscribers to Android 4.0 starting on the morning of March 13. The South Korean provider will start at 10AM local time, but this may not happen after all as the tweet was removed, though not before The Verge saved it. Internal SK documents are also said to confirm the date, however.

It's likely Samsung made SK Telecom pull the notice, as it would rather release the news itself and leave room for. This week seems likely for the update to be arriving in other regions as well, with other hints that it's coming in Israel on March 15. Samsung Philippines had hinted this weekend but later retracted its own claim.

The Android 4.0 update is expected to thoroughly modernize the Galaxy S II by giving it a much faster stock browser, support Chrome for Android, and introduce more hardware acceleration than Android 2.3. Samsung is unlikely to significantly change its own TouchWiz layer for the update other than to accommodate native Android 4.0 updates when they make sense.

with ICS, iOS dominance will start to shrink.

iOS cannot hold a candle to Droid 4.
it's very smoothly integrated from small mobile to larger tablet screens.

    V5 will be even better.

Besides when you've got over 70% of the market,
    like Apple does,
unless you diversify -like Autodesk did

    The only way is DOWN!
