Samsung launches latest suit against Apple

Samsung has filed a new lawsuit against Apple in its home market of South Korea. The new lawsuit claims that that the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 infringe on three of its patents and comes on the eve of Apple's special iPad 3/HD launch event today. Specifically, Samsung claims that Apple has infringed on three of its utility patents including the way data is displayed, an aspect of the iOS user interface and the way Apple has implemented SMS.

The latest claim takes the total number of cases between the two tech titans to 30 spanning 10 countries. The latest claim by Samsung appears to be a counter to Apple's most recent accusations that Samsung's implementation of voice search in Android mimics its Siri technology. Its timing also suggests that although the two companies remain closely tied in terms of hardware supply and manufacture, that their relationship is otherwise becoming increasingly acrimonious.

Apple initiated the legal action back in April last year following the success that Samsung enjoyed with the launch of its original Galaxy S smartphone that many consider to bore a close resemblance to the iPhone 3GS. At the time, Apple accused Samsung of 'slavishly' copying its iPad and iPhone line, including the way it skinned its version of Android and the way that it packaged its products. In the most recent decision handed down in the world's courts, Samsung and Apple both had claims tossed by a Mannheim Regional Court judge. [via Reuters]

    What took them so long?

Why didn't they file suit back in 2007?
Filing now tells me they are desperate; up to now they didn't think it was very important.

    I am announcing...

my patents on the historical years 2012 - 2099 wherein carbon-based lifeforms will continue to survive and progress in a relatively interconnected fashion in a process I call the "circle of life". All interactions and the by-products of these interactions are covered under this patent.

    Let the lawsuits begin...
