AT&T To beging carrying Beats audio gear soon
AT&T on Monday revealed it will exclusively offer the Beats by Dr. Dre Beatbox Portable on March 11. The wireless audio system connects to smartphones through Bluetooth or, with iPhones and iPods, directly through an Apple Dock Connector. A 3.5mm audio input handles older phones or other audio sources.
A remote control is included that lets users adjust the volume, power the system, switch and scan tracks, as well as mute the system. The speaker dock can be powered by six D-cell batteries or a PC. It contains one 5.25-inch driver to reproduce sound, though there is no way to play back audio without an external source.
The Beatbox Portable will be offered in white and black, priced at $399, in some AT&T stores and online. The same day will see AT&T begin offering Beats' Wireless HD stereo Bluetooth headphones for $280, Beats' Solo HD headphones for $200, and the UR Beats in-ear headphones for $99.
AT&T has partnered with Beats, recently announcing it will release a software upgrade for its HTC Vivid smartphone that includes Beats Audio software enhancements for a more enjoyable audio experience.
