Pentax K-5 Silver Special Edition has special lens

Pentax has brought out a special-run DSLR with genuinely uncommon optics. The K-5 Silver Special Edition both outfits the 16.3-megapixel DSLR with a semi-retro look as well as a very thin 40mm, f2.8 XS lens. Along with being a complement to the body, the lens keeps the overall size small and provides a prime lens to join more conventional options.

The camera itself is mostly identical on the inside, although it now ships with the latest firmware preloaded. It can shoot at up to ISO 51,200 sensitivity, at up to seven frames per second, and an 11-point autofocus system. Pentax promises one of the less expensive ruggedized DSLRs with a properly weather-resistant body.

Photographers will get the Silver Special Edition in April, when it reaches the US for $1,600. Only 1,500 will be made, and the only source beyond Pentax's own online store will be Ace Photo. [via DPReview]
