Beats Audio app ported to non-HTC devices

Beats Audio gets unofficial port

A new project has brought the Beats Audio app to non-HTC smartphones. The XDA-Developers port gives users a flashable ZIP file that lets users get the usually bass-heavy equalizer. It should work on any Android version and many devices, although a special version exists for Galaxy S II owners.

As with other such hacks, the install comes at the user's own risk. It's known to work when successfully implemented, however.

HTC is keeping Beats processing as an advantage of its own Android phones. The company has offered an olive branch in making public APIs and letting Beats work in any app, but these just let developers write their own apps to use the audio support, not bring it to other phones.
