iPad 3 digitizer photos show home button, different colors

Allays speculation about Apple press invite

A site called RepairLabs says it has managed to obtain digitzer parts for the iPad 3. The digitzer is essentially the front panel, including the touchscreen and the front glass. Photos appear to confirm that the iPad 3 will come in black and white tones, and continue to use a traditional Home button. Based on the invite to Apple's March 7th press event, some speculation existed that Apple was somehow eliminating the button.

A look at the reverse side of the digitizer shows a new connector different from that for the iPad 2. Possibly lending credibility to the RepairLabs parts is that they appear identical to a digitizer leaked in late February. A variety of parts for the iPad 3 are believed to be in circulation, including rear shells.

RepairLabs adds that when the digitizer and the rear shell are paired together the iPad 3 looks "a lot" like the iPad 2, only 1mm thicker. Apple normally attempts to shrink its devices further with each generation, but the combination of anticipated components may be forcing a compromise. The tablet is expected to have a quad-core processor, a 2048x1536 display, and LTE 4G. Storage capacity could conceivably scale up to 128GB, paralleling the bump of the iPhone 4S up to a maximum 64GB.

    Does this mean?

Does this mean Wacom style pens? Or is this just a different method of touch input?

    Pen?

Why would there be a pen? Samsung copies Apple, not the other way around. Plus, I'd much rather use my ever-dependable finger than an easily-lost piece of plastic.
