Rasberry Pi micro PC for homebrewers inbound

Raspberry Pi has announced that its delayed micro PC is now available for pre-order. The company has indicated on its website that the units are on the way from China and that buyers can start placing their orders now. The diminutive device is aimed at home theatre PC enthusiasts and is designed to plug into a TV over HDMI, but can be used in any number of ways.

There are two models on offer, with users limited to being able to order just one of each model at this time. The $35 Model A variant is built around a 700MHz ARM11 processor, 256MB of RAM and includes HDMI and RCA video outputs and even includes SD card storage. It is capable of playing video back at 1080p. The Linux OS, GUI and standard apps are embedded on an SDHC card slotted into the motherboard. It can even be controlled by a mouse and keyboard connected to its USB port.

At $35 the Model B gives users two USB ports and as well as an Ethernet port for the extra $10. It is the first of the two models to ship, although Raspberry Pi have confirmed that production of the Model A has already started. [via The Verge]
