New MacBook Pros seen arriving in April 'at the soonest'

New 17-inch system not expected at launch

Updated MacBook Pros will ship in April "at the soonest," according to Digitimes. Upstream supply chain sources suggest that about 900,000 units will roll out at launch. Only 13- and 15-inch Pros are mentioned though, which may imply that 17-inch systems will arrive at a later date.

Apple is generally believed to be working on a substantial redesign of the MacBook Pro, one that is thinner and lighter, borrowing lessons from the MacBook Air. A possible delay for the 17-inch model is backed up by an AppleInsider report. It is also consistent with how Apple handled the Pro in 2008, when 17-inch systems only shipped several months after the rest.
