updated 09:30 am EST, Tue February 28, 2012

Nokia Lumia phones will debut secure messaging app

Good Technology has unveiled a new version of its Good for Enterprise secure messaging platform. The new version provides secured, encrypted mobile messaging and access for corporate email, contacts, and calendars through on Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango). The software will interoperate with Good's FIPS-certified 192 bit AES encryption. Nokia's Lumia 710, Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 will be the first Windows Phone devices certified for the Good for Technology app.

Other manufacturers handsets will also support the enterprise app, including the Samsung Focus, HTC Titan and HTC Radar 4G. Good for Enterprise has been available for iOS and Android for several years.

The app is part of the "Bring Your Own Device" trend in enterprise computing, which seeks to allow remote users access to office information systems on their personal mobile devices and give IT managers the tools to protect those systems. Security measures include data encryption, role-based security policies for remote users, and disabling of cut/copy/paste capabilities. The system also enables remote data wiping of corporate information if the device is lost or stolen.

The Good for Enterprise application for Windows Phone 7.5 is targeted for commercial availability in early Q2 2012. Pricing was not announced.
