HTC vying to make Jelly Bean Nexus smartphone

LG also said to be involved in talks

Just days after rumors suggested LG is involved in talks with Google to produce the next Nexus handset, a fresh report suggests HTC may be vying for the same position. HTC's Jeff Gordon told Tech Radar that Google "hasn't chosen its Nexus partner," however he also noted that "all the manufacturers are crossing their fingers."

The comments have been perceived as an acknowledgement that HTC is included in the group of companies that is hoping to be the chosen manufacturer for the next Nexus device. The company played a significant role when Android first arrived on the market with the G1, and built the first Nexus-branded device, the Nexus One, which shipped early in 2010.

The Nexus branding currently represents the pinnacle of what Google expects of the Android experience, conforming to the search giant's demands while benefiting from the latest major OS updates. The Galaxy Nexus is still considered a niche device, however it also represents one of the most advanced and refined devices in the Android market.

Tech Radar's story that quoted Jeff Gordon was pulled shortly after it was published, suggesting he may have hinted at more than the company is currently willing to disclose. Google has yet to confirm which company will make the next Nexus device, which is expected to run the next major Android update, known as Jelly Bean. [via Android and Me]

I thought LG was Googles next b****

Maybe they weren't prepared to bend over as far as HTC.

    Proprietary c***

I love HTC, but the fact that the One X was a unibody....I mean really....that defeats the purpose of being an Android.
