Hands on: ZTE Orbit Windows Phone

ZTE's latest entry-level WP7 device

Nokia's latest smartphones may have attracted the most attention among Windows Phone devices this week at Barcelona, but ZTE also expanded its Windows Phone lineup with the new Orbit. The device offers many of the same specs as the company's Tania model, which just arrived on the market. Electronista had a chance to check out the Orbit ahead of a formal launch.

The Orbit centers around a four-inch display, making it slightly smaller than the Tania, while the capacitive touchscreen is clearly a step down from resistive panels. The phone was light but did not feel as solid as we would like.

The rest of the hardware specs appear to be aimed at the entry-level Windows Phone market, including 4GB of integrated storage and a five-megapixel camera. Performance seemed to be comparable to other Windows Phone handsets, and this is to be expected due to Microsoft's tight guidelines.

ZTE has yet to announce pricing details or launch dates for the Orbit.
