HD tablet targets mobile entertainment enthusiasts

Along with the entry level Transformer Pad 300, ASUS has used Mobile World Congress to introduce a high-end tablet with home cinema qualities. The ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity is a 10.1-inch tablet with a 1920x1200 Super IPS+ screen protected by Gorilla Glass 2. The display puts out 600 nits brightness making it viewable in sunlight.

The tablet is powered by either a next gen Qualcomm or NVIDIA processor. A 3G/LTE version carries a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Krait dual-core 1.5Ghz CPU, while a Wi-Fi model runs an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core 1.6GHz processor. The Wi-Fi tablet comes with either 32GB or 64GB of storage, while the LTE model adds a 16GB option to the mix. The rear-facing camera is eight megapixels with LED flash, F2.2 aperture and an automatic backlit sensor. The front-facing camera is two megapixels. Battery life is 10 hours or 16 hours with an Li-polymer upgrade.

As with earlier Transformer models, the new Transformer Pad Infinity has a dock that both provides a chiclet QWERTY keyboard and a second battery to extend life. Pricing for the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity has not been disclosed.
