Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 pen tablet ads spotted around MWC

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 seemingly made official

New sleuthing by around the Mobile World Congress venue has supported notions that Samsung's real highlight for the show will be a Galaxy Note 10.1. A photo of the tablet includes text below it refers to "It's 10.1" as well as the familiar "It's Galaxy Note" line attached to the current Galaxy Note. The screen on the tablet shows what looks to be handwritten scrapbook contents.

Having already unveiled the modest Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) earlier on Sunday, Samsung may open Monday using a Galaxy Note 10.1 as the real highlight for its show. It may keep up the Galaxy Note's approach of an upgraded display and processor, which here could mean a 2560x1600 display and 2GHz chip.

The use of a pen would see Samsung following a practice of turning to pen input as a way of providing means of standing out next to the iPad, much like what HTC and Motorola have done with the Jetstream and Droid Xyboard. So far, however, it hasn't helped either drive sales, and it's unclear how well the existing Galaxy Note is faring outside of Korea.

    A pen for a tablet...

That's so cute! Who ever came up with this is genius!

Holding a pen to my PDA...

It gives me that 1990s nostalgic feeling... Next thing from Samsung, 50 pound monitors and ultra fast dot-matrix printers.

Oh, I can't wait till they release ultra portable, magnetic storage devices in some manner of floppy type of format.

I really like how they're bringing back pens. Samsung has correctly predicted the end of multi-touch devices! Everyone wishes that their sleek devices finally came with something that could replace something as inconvenient, losable, and archaic as a finger. Seriously!

Apple used to be a company that catered to the creative and innovative types.

Now every product from rival companies is either ridiculed with pathetic marketing rants or right out claimed to be a copy of a previous Apple product.

Something must be going really wrong with Apple consumers, for they behave like ignorant fools or repressive dictators on most comments.

You're saying a pen is far more reliable and accurate than your finger? I feel bad for your hand, Arne! And it's not what you're saying at all; I love innovation! I'm just wondering why Samsung cannot grasp the concept. The problem is all of their ideas seem to date back to how it USED to be done. Microsoft, for example, can be ridiculed and credited for their Metro interface. While I see it as ultimately a failure, I commend Microsoft for trying things that haven't been done before! They, for once, are being original and forward-thinking. I would have the same of Samsung as you do if they would simply do one thing forward-thinking (that Apple hasn't already done and patented).
