Apple posts EFI updates for iMacs, MacBooks, Mac minis

updated 06:00 pm EST, Thu February 23, 2012

Patches deal with network boots, HDCP issues

Apple has released four separate EFI firmware updates for Macs. These include Mac mini EFI Firmware Update 1.6, iMac EFI Firmware Update 1.9, MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.4, and MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.7. In all cases, the downloads deal with the same core problems.

"This update improves the reliability of booting from the network, addresses an issue that can prevent HDCP authentication after a reboot, and resolves an issue with boot device selection when a USB storage device is hot-plugged," text for each patch informs. Only owners of 2011 Macs should install the new firmware. Filesizes are small, ranging between 3.77 and 4.24MB.

    Also...

you should have specified "for 2011 Macs only" in the first paragraph, not the last... Like: "Apple has released four separate EFI firmware updates for 2011 Macs."

    Re: any word

No because there's like 3 people with TB disks, since apple is sooooooo far ahead of the crowd, there's no peripherals to run on it.

But luckily we didn't get saddled with USB 3, since there's no peripherals for that, supposedly.
