Samsung i9300 web profile casts doubt on Galaxy S III link

Fits profile of 7-inch tablet, not nextgen phone

Late last month several leaks hinted that the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone bearing, the model i9300, might be officially revealed as soon as the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) later this month. A new posting by Android Community now casts doubt on both that the GT-i9300 is the next generation Galaxy S III and what little expectation was left that it would be making an appearance at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The earlier association was based on speculation from a submission to the Wi-Fi Alliance and to an internal Samsung support page from the United Arab Emirates. Android Community however, has found a bit more detail on the GT-i9300 from Samsung's own mobile site. In the phone's UAProf (User Agent Profile) for the web, the company lists the screen size as 1024x600. This would indicate that the device is more likely a seven-inch tablet and not a smartphone.

Samsung's flagship phone, the Galaxy Nexus, has a 1280x720 resolution, and its crossover Galaxy Note sports a 1280x800 screen.

More detais on the GT-i9300 could still emerge in conjunction with the opening of MWC next week, but Samsung itself has ruled out a Galaxy S III level device at the show.
