Devices shares many specs, support Nottv channel

Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo has dated two new portable Android devices that are also waterproof. The Sharp Aquos SH-06D phone has already been seen before, and despite being promised to launch at the start of December, still hasn't surfaced. The other new device is the seven-inch NEC Medias Tab N-06D, which shares the handset's dual-core 1.2GHz processor.

The 0.39-inch (10mm) thick tablet will also support the carrier's Xi LTE network. The display has a wide XGA (1280x768) resolution as well as the usual Bluetooth, Japan-oriented NFC, and Wi-Fi, though how much storage space is offered isn't yet known.

Other similarities include support for Japan's V-High broadcasting service, granting access to the paid Nottv channel when it launches at the start of April. The lowest subscription rate will be 420 yen (about $5.30 per month). Both can also capture free-to-air 1Seg signals.

The SH-06D phone touts a 4.5-inch, HD (720x1280) screen with glasses-free 3D capability. It will ship with a holder that doubles as a charger and contains an antenna for capturing the broadcasts. An NFC chip for the carrier's Osaifu-Keitai service allows for making mobile wallet payments and is again shared with the tablet.

While prices for the devices aren't known given traditional Japanese open pricing, the phone will launch in March and the tablet in April.
