Paradigma launches Valentina 5 platform

updated 02:00 am EST, Thu February 16, 2012

Builds on Valentina DB database, server

Paradigma Software is debuting a new line-up of Valentina data management and database products for Mac, Windows and Linux. The flagship product is now Valentina Studio Pro 5, which adds Postgre support and incorporates the formerly separate Valentina Studio Admin. In addition, the product supports ENUM types, journaling and more.

Valentina Studio Pro 5 includes a new query building engine, support for SQL DIFF, an enhanced visual reports designer and a new graphical team diagramming system. Reports can now be exported as images, web pages or PDFs.

Better recovery, more robust management and recovery and industry-standard sequences support have been added to Valentina 5 databases, which are object-relational columnar systems that work far faster than relational databases when dealing with large numbers of records.

The company has also upgraded Valentina Server to version 5, including the database kernel and a Reports Server that supports open-source web application languages. The iValentina administrative companion iOS apps for monitoring, querying and managing Valentina servers is also available free from the App Store.

With Valentina 5, developers now gain full access to Reports Server, SSL and Bonjour features at no additional cost. The Reports ADK features API support for exporting reports as XML-augmented PDFs and now supports connectivity to SQLite and Postgre databases.

The Valentina Reports ADK is $199 per platform, as is the DB ADK. Solutions developed with either can be deployed without royalties, and all Valentina products includes 12 months worth of upgrades. The software will be released in the next 30 days.

    Best Reports for Mac Devs

Reports and the DB are available with drivers for C++, Objective-C, LiveCode, REAL Studio, and even the living-dead Adobe Director. AFAIK, its the only reports tool that works with every native Mac OS X dev environment. And Java is coming too.
