NVIDIA Mobile World Congress invite hints quad-core phones

NVIDIA likely to show HTC Endeavor at MWC

NVIDIA has sent out invitations to a special event at Mobile World Congress that's likely a strong clue of what at least one partner will show at the event. It plans to show more "quad-core firsts," hinting that a Tegra 3 phone will appear at the event. Most likely, the reference is to either the HTC Endeavor or the upcoming Fujitsu Arrows phone.

Either should be some of the fastest phones available and should perform about as well as an ASUS Transformer Prime. The jump will let them handle visually intense games and better juggle multiple apps at once in Android. Battery life remains the chief concern, as even the optimizations NVIDIA's made may not avoid higher power consumption that wouldn't be as noticeable on a tablet.

The Tegra 3 so far hasn't been as widely adopted as the Tegra 2. Some of this has come out of Google support: the Tegra 2 was the first and initially the only processor that would support Android 3, giving NVIDIA a place in devices that it's not guaranteed now that Qualcomm, TI, and others can participate.
