Verizon to launch Droid 4, start promo deals soon

Apart from launching the Motorola Droid 4 on February 10, Verizon has a number of other promotions scheduled for that same day. While the Droid 4 has been officially confirmed, news of the other promos come from BGR and aren't yet a sure thing. The Droid 4 will cost $200 on a two-year contract, as expected. The other deals include a buy one, get one free for other smartphones, including the fairly recent RAZR MAXX and the new white and purple versions of the original.

At the same time, Verizon will restore a double data promotion that gives users twice as much data per month as usually for 4G LTE device contracts. These plans start at $30 per month for 4GB of data versus the usual 2GB. Those who buy any new phone on a two-year contract will also get $100 off any 4G LTE tablet.

Finally, a trade-in promo will see those who bring in their old handsets will instantly get a $30 Verizon gift card in stores.

The Droid 4 is a QWERTY slider adaptation of the modern RAZR and mostly shrinks to a four-inch but still 540x960 LCD instead of the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen. Its 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor, eight-megapixel rear camera, and front camera translate over directly, as does the custom-modified version of Android 2.3.
