Sony slips out Bridge for Mac for Xperia smartphones

updated 04:20 am EST, Sun February 5, 2012

Sony releases syncing software for Mac users

Sony has quietly released Bridge for Mac, a software utility that makes it easier for Mac users to to sync its Xperia line of smartphones. Mac users have long been overlooked by Sony, with its syncing software for smartphones and other devices previously limited to Windows machines only. The software will allow users to sync music, movies, podcasts and playlists across from iTunes, much like DoubleTwist for Android, as well as photos from iPhoto.

Mac users will still have the option of dragging and dropping content to their device as well. Sony says that a future version of the utility will also allow Mac users to update their Sony Xperia more easily, with notifications about updates and the ability to connect the device to their Mac to have it installed.

Version 1.2 of Bridge for Mac is available now and is compatible with Intel Macs running OS 10.5 or higher with iTunes 7.0 or later and iPhoto 08 or later also installed.
