Telus clears out Wi-Fi BlackBerry PlayBooks ahead of 3G

Telus phases out all three Wi-Fi PlayBooks

Canadian wireless provider Telus has now deemed that the three Wi-Fi models of the BlackBerry PlayBook seven-inch tablet has reached the end of its life. As such, no returns are being accepted, no new ones are being ordered, and the carrier is clearing them out for the lower price yet, at just $150 CAD for both the 16GB and 32GB versions. The 64GB models are slightly more expensive, at $300.

The fact all three are being slowly phased out could suggest RIM will soon launch a 3G version of the tablet. This is in line with arecently leaked roadmap that has a 3G version coming this spring. It would carry over many of the features but upgrade to a 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor as well as NFC wireless payment capabilities. Pricing for that tablet remains to be seen. [via MobileSyrup]
