Samsung SGH-T769 surfaces at FCC

updated 10:45 pm EST, Thu February 2, 2012

Identity of device remains unclear

Yet another unannounced Samsung device appears to have made its way through FCC testing. The handset, which is referred to by the model code SGH-T769, has been approved for GSM bands and the WCDMA bands that T-Mobile utilizes for its 4G network.

User agent strings, posted by TmoNews, suggest the T769 will integrate an ARM11 processor and a 800x480 display. Additional specs and the physical form of the handset remain unclear.

Several other Samsung devices, labeled the GT-P3100 and GT-P5100, recently appeared in Wi-Fi Alliance certification documents. The P designation suggests the devices will represent Galaxy Tab tablets, rather than smartphones.

Samsung has yet to confirm any details surrounding the T769 phone or the tablets, however the low number on the phone's model code suggests it will not be a flagship device. The company typically introduces a number of new devices at Mobile World Congress.

    Exhibit II 4G?

What I don't get is why the Samsung Exhibit II 4G (already on T-Mobile) shares the same model number as this (SGH-T769)?

Why would the same device go through the FCC twice?
