Sprint launches official app for iPhone subscribers

updated 01:20 pm EST, Mon January 30, 2012

Provides account, device data

Several months after launching the iPhone on its network, Sprint has released a first-party app for subscribers. Called Mobile Zone, the app mainly supplies personal account information. It also incorporates news and promotions from Sprint, though, and various help functions, such as access to support staff.

News updates can be pushed as notifications. Making the app somewhat unusual among carriers, though, is the presence of an Apple and Sprint store locator, as well as a device management panel. The latter shows data on power, active data connections, and resource use, including free memory and running apps. The app is a free download, but requires iOS 5.
