SlingPlayer app set to launch on Kindle Fire

updated 07:55 pm EST, Mon January 30, 2012

Fire app different than Android variant

Sling Media is reportedly set to launch its SlingPlayer app for Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet. Although the device is powered by Google's mobile OS, the new app is said to omit the remote control interface and SlingBox guide that can be found on its standard Android Market counterpart for Honeycomb-based tablets.

Users can still stream live TV content in HD over a Wi-Fi connection, on either a home network or remotely, when the app is used in conjunction with a SlingBox Solo or Pro-HD set-top box.

The Kindle Fire SlingPlayer app is expected to be available to download tomorrow for $30. [via The Verge]
