T-Mobile to give extra help to unlocked iPhones

T-Mobile staff told to support unlocked iPhones

A leaked memo shared online by TmoNews reveals T-Mobile will change its attitude toward its subscribers who use unlocked iPhones on their network. When the iPhone owners call in, T-Mobile staffers are being instructed to handle common procedures. These include information about features and specifications and other basic device questions.

T-Mobile has never offered any version of the iPhone for sale. Some of those users who use their iPhones on T-Mobile's network reportedly even went as far as cutting up their SIM cards to make them fit into the microSIM card slot of the newer iPhone and iPhone 4S. T-Mobile did since get its own microSIM cards, however.

Last spring, Apple was rumored to be testing a T-Mobile version of its handset. The carrier also recently hinted it will support the 3G bands of the next iPhone.

    Curious

Do I smell desperation from AT&T's spurned lover? It certainly appears that T-Mobile needs Apple more than Apple needs them. However, I do believe there will come a time when iPhones are able to run on T-Mobile's networks without a jailbreak. This will ultimately make both Apple and T-Mobile winners. You can never have too many friends in this world!
