Samsung Galaxy S II spinoff may go to China

updated 03:10 pm EST, Fri January 27, 2012

Galaxy S II variant shows up at FCC, due in China

A unique variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II has now shown up undergoing FCC testing. The device, only known so far as the GT-i9070, will have GSM/EDGE 850MHz and 1,900MHz support, along with WCDMA 3G bands II and IV used in the US. It's believed focused on China.

Other leaked but not official specs would see it scale back from the dual-core original, with a five-megapixel camera with an LED flash, a 1GHz processor, and a display of unknown size with an 800x480 display. The built-in 6GB of storage space would ship with Android 2.3.

While the FCC needs to test devices for their support of the country's wireless standards and rules, it doesn't guarantee that they will be sold here. While the GT-i9070 does support AT&T bands, it's not likely the carrier will offer it alongside the much similar Galaxy S II. [via Wireless Goodness]
