ASUS vows to fix Transformer Prime freezes

ASUS Transformer Prime plagued by locking too

ASUS technical marketing overseer Gary Key has responded to complaints from Transformer Prime owners for another flaw. Responding to some reports on XDA-Developers' forums that the tablet freezes randomly after loading up the Android 4.0 update, Key anticipated a fix in early February. He hadn't pinpointed the cause, which didn't appeared to be tied to running any specific app or using the Prime for certain periods.

The freezing compounds what's increasingly a troubled history for the quad-core tablet. It still suffers from GPS issues after a fix and 4.0 upgrade problems for some owners. A problem is likewise being tracked with signal degradation problems using Bluetooth 3.0's Wi-Fi transport feature to stream content.

While fixes are likely to come, the bugs have dampened ASUS' chances at mounting significant competition to Apple. Some early Transformer Prime adopters are concerned that the TF700T, along with upgrading the display, really amounts to a hardware fix with truly working GPS and better wireless reception.
