Singular Software, Nattress ship plug-ins for FCP X, others

updated 06:00 pm EST, Thu January 26, 2012

PluralEyes marries separate sound to vision

Two different pro-video editing software companies have released new plug-in versions for Final Cut Pro X and other editors that bring new abilities to their respective platforms. Singular Software has updated its PluralEyes clip-syncing program for FCP X, while FxFactory plug-in developer Nattress has added Levels and Curves, a filter pack that lets users color-grade in the film log, to FCP X and earlier versions, along with Motion and Adobe After Effects.

PluralEyes, which is already available for previous versions of FCP, along with Media Composer, Premiere Pro, EDIUS and Vegas Pro, solves one of the most time-consuming problems in video editing: synchronizing sound from single or dual sources to video clips from multiple cameras without timecode or clappers. The new version for FCP X was given a warm review by Photography Bay and is affordably priced at $149. Existing PluralEyes for FCP customers can upgrade to the FCP X version at no charge. A 30-day trial version is also available.

Nattress' Levels and Curves, already available as part of the just-released FxFactory 3, is now available separately as well in versions that are compatible with Final Cut Pro (versions 6, 7 and X), Motion (3, 4 and 5) and Adobe After Effects CS3-CS5.5. The plug-in features an on-screen curve display, a library of presets, gamma and luma curves as well as RGB channels. The plug-in is priced at $29 and a free trial version is available.
