New in-app purchasing, video output support
Id Software's non-franchise game for iOS devices, Rage HD, has now been updated to version 2.0. The game, which puts players in the middle of a "reality TV" show called Mutant Bash, is a first-person rail shooter that now includes in-app purchasing of additional episodes, higher-resolution player and weapon graphics, better video out support for VGA, component cables and HDMI under iOS 5, and various performance enhancements for controlling the game.
The game features three levels where the player battles his or her way past scores of mutants, including the Tenements, the Asylum and the Bunker, but now offers two new levels for an additional $1 over the game's $2 price. Episode four is called "Kraken" and episode five is named "Aqueduct." The company says more content will be forthcoming in the "Mutant Bash Store," the in-app purchasing center.
The game also now includes a new Rage trailer, and fixes a large number of bugs along with loading in a number of performance enhancements, particularly in the area of controlling the main character. For best performance, Id recommends the game for "fourth generation devices" and the iPad. It requires iOS 4.3 or later, but has been compiled using the iOS 5 SDK for best performance.
