Flickr adds three-month subs, cuts price, goes auto-renewal

Flickr remakes Pro strategy

Flickr has detailed a handful of key changes to the Pro side of its photo sharing service. Users can now pay for as little as three months at a time if they like, paying $7 for each interval. Long-term subscribers who prefer the two-year plan are getting a price cut at the same time, down from $50 to $45.

Anyone who signs up for a Pro account of any interval is now being switched to auto renewal. While inconvenient for short-term subscribers, it saves trouble for those who want to keep their accounts permanently and don't want to temporarily lose full access if they forget to renew.

Pro accounts give access to every photo, including original sizes, while allowing as many uploads as the user likes. It also scraps ads.

For the price, it's not a bad deal. Full resolution, no ads, unlimited photo and video uploads, not as beautiful but maybe that will come in time.
