Canon EOS C300 pro video cam due January 31

The recently introduced EOS Cinema C300 pro video camera will reach Japanese stores on January 31. The PL version of the camera, which will be able to accommodate industry-standard PL lenses rather than the regular version's EF mount, is due to arrive late in March. Confirmed pricing for either shooter hasn't yet been revealed, but early indications place either model at the equivalent of about $19,300.

Either version sports a Super 35mm CMOS sensor designed to bring some of the visuals of DSLR video to pro movie making. It has the ability to record 4:2:2 MPEG-2 video to dual CF cards at a native 1080p resolution and up to 50Mbps. A four-inch LCD monitor lets users frame their shots, while HD-SDI outputs can show the content on editing stations.

Lenses will cost extra, and arrive at around the same time as their respective bodies. First to arrive at the end of this month will be the CN-E14.5-60mm T2 6L. [via Impress]
