Brother expands number of AirPrint-compatible printers

updated 10:20 am EST, Tue January 24, 2012

AirPrint now with several printer manufacturers

Brother has expanded the number of its printers supporting Apple's AirPrint standard. Now included are a handful of all-in-one color inkjets: the MFC-J280w, MFC-J430w, MFC-J625dw, MFC-J825dw, and MFC-J5910dw. AirPrint allows an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to send content directly to a printer over Wi-Fi, rather than rely on a custom app, a card transfer, or sync with a computer.

AirPrint has taken some time to gain traction. Initially support was limited to a small assortment of HP printers. HP gradually increased coverage, though, and eventually other printer makers joined in, including Brother, Canon, Epson, and Lexmark. The last in fact has just 11 AirPrint-ready printers, divided between its C-, X- and Pro-series models.

    But...

...still no explanation from Apple why they pulled the AirPrint gateway software from MacOS X.

    Stupid

AirPrint = GREAT , Apples implementation = STUPID and makes no sense. There are great 3rd party apps that allow your mac to share all your printers over AirPrint so whats Apple's excuse for not implementing it in the OS ????

2nd STUPID thing, there are plenty of Apps that allow you to print to printers so again WHATS APPLES excuse for not allowing airplay to print to many other types of printers just like the apps allow but straight from IOS ????
