LG CX2 leaks, may replace Optimus 3D

updated 01:00 pm EST, Mon January 23, 2012

LG CX2 handset with 3D display, dual cams, leaked

A new set of leaked details from PocketNow show that LG may have more than one major smartphone update in the near future. The CX2 may replace the company's Optimus 3D, it would get a brighter Nova display but it will retain the 4.3-inch size and resolution. The 1GHz chip would be replaced by a faster, 1.2GHz chip.

It will still sport a glasses-free (stereoscopic) 3D display, and the new one should have the ability to convert 2D content into 3D, according to the tip. The dual rear five-megapixel rear cameras should stay as well, though they would now be housed in a body that's nearly 2mm (0.08in) thinner and should come in at under 10mm (0.39in) thick.

The storage space of 8GB will likely be carried over as well, and the phone should carry DLNA-compatible Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and the 21Mbps HSPA 3G radio as in the also recently leaked X3. An NFC chip will be integrated as well, a source claimed.

The phone is likely to make its official debut at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in about a month, with shipping expected to start early in spring.
