All tools now 30 percent more efficient
Stellar Data Recovery, makers of Stellar Phoenix and other utility tools for Mac, has updated its Stellar Drive Toolbox to version 2.0, offering 12 "vastly improved utilities that have been made 30 percent more efficient, as well as a new bonus tool, says the company. The various tools in the kit include utilities to handle disk defragmenting, drive cloning, a raw data editor and others, now including a bonus "Data Encryptor" that lets users secure selected files.
Other tools included in the suite include Speedup Mac (which deletes unneeded files such as extra languages and "slims" universal binaries), Partition Manager, File Wipe, Volume Repair, Drive Initialize, Shield (a backup image creator similar to Microsoft's "restore points", a driver performance monitor, Drive Stats and Surface Scan. It should be noted that many of these functions can also be handled by built-in tools under OS X, though the Stellar version sometimes offers more flexibility or a friendly GUI interface.
A demo version of the software is available, and it sells for $99. The new version requires Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, meaning it can only be used on Intel Macs, but the PowerPC-friendly older version is still available.

rip off
half this stuff can already be done as part of the operating system.
the volume repair feature is doing nothing but running fsck which is the same as running disk utility.
way to put pretty graphics on things and try to rip people off.
