Behringer intros three mixers that integrate the iPad

Behringer expands Xenyx-series small form mixers

Just ahead of the NAMM show, Behringer has introduced three new Xenyx-series mixers that are meant to integrate Apple's iPad into the process. The small format mixers all sport an iPad dock that allows for two-way communication between the mixer and iPad. They have a stereo USB audio interface that connects to a Windows or Mac OS X computer for recording as well.

The iX1642USB, iX2442USB, and iX3242USB also share a dual-engine KLARK-TEKNIK FX processor and 32 editable presets such as reverb, chorus, flange, delay, pitch shifter and multi-effects. The iPad touchscreen will control the FX Processor using a dedicated app for changing equalizer settings and can be used to view a full-spectrum analyzer, among other features. The exact difference between the three mixers isn't clear, though they likely support a different amount of channels.

The Xenyx preamps have a 130dB dynamic range and a bandwidth that starts at under 10Hz and goes to above 200kHz, which compares favorably with much costlier hardware, Behringer said.

Pricing and release dates aren't yet known.

    Don't waste your money

Behringer makes cheap, crappy equipment...period. It's pretty much the bottom of the barrel. If you're just playing guitar in your bedroom, it might be OK if you can keep it working.

But you should go to NAMM - you'll see Uli Behringer walking around the trade show floor taking pictures of everybody's stuff so that his company can copy it (and sell it for cheap).
