Verizon cuts Motorola Droid RAZR to $200, adds purple

updated 02:00 pm EST, Tue January 17, 2012

Verizon lops $100 off Motorola Droid RAZR price

Verizon has reduced the price of its Motorola Droid RAZR by $100, with the smartphone now priced at $200 on a new two-year contract. It had originally cost the $300 that Verizon typically reserves for its highest-end smartphones. No reason was given for the rapid price cut.

The dual-core 1.2GHz hardware is just 7.1mm thick, and uses Kevlar fiber for strength along with Gorilla Glass for its 4.3-inch, Super AMOLED screen. It has 16GB of built-in memory and has a microSD memory card. There is an eight-megapixel camera onboard capable of capturing 1080p video, along with a front-facing camera for video chat. The hotspot feature can support up to eight devices.

Along with its black and more recent white additions, the Droid RAZR will come in purple on January 23 at Verizon, costing the same $200.
