ASUS: original Eee Pad Transformer Android 4.0 in approvals

updated 02:55 pm EST, Mon January 16, 2012

Waiting for go ahead from Google

ASUS has confirmed that its original Eee Pad Transformer tablet will soon be getting an Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update. The company has responded to a customer's inquiry on Facebook that firmware is in the process of being approved by Google. ASUS gave no indication how soon the upgrade would be available.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer, which hit US shores in April, was one of the first tablets to run Android 3.0. The 10-inch device incorporated a 1280x800 screen, an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, dual cameras, and 16GB of storage. One of its most appealing features was a docking QWERTY keyboard with touchpad.

Its low price of $399 made it quite popular, and initial stocks at major retailers including Amazon sold out quickly, although partly due to low supply. [via Droid-Life]
