iTunes Match doubles in size with 19 more
Apple has quietly updated iTunes Match to roughly double its size. A total of 19 new countries have been added to bring the total up to 37. Most of the expansion focuses on Latin America and northern Europe.
The full tally brings Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and the Netherlands now get iTunes in the Cloud features that most of the others already had, letting shoppers re-download music and music videos they already own.
Apple had started iTunes Match only in the US, but it expanded in December to include the cloud music access in some of its better-performing countries. Launches worldwide have been dictated by local labels and distributors that each have their own separate demands. [via MacRumors]
