CyanogenMod teases Android 4.0 on HP TouchPad

updated 05:30 pm EST, Fri January 13, 2012

Will be more functional and stable than past tries

HP TouchPad owners finally may soon be able to run Android 4.0 on their tablet. The CyanogenMod team has released a preview (below) of their upcoming CM9 build for the device. The upcoming version is much more fully featured than previous renditions of the Android port, and will incorporate almost all functionality except the camera and video playback.

The CyanogenMod team began working on an Android implementation almost as soon as HP announced it was dropping the webOS-based device in August. In October, its developers unveiled Alpha 1, a proof of progress release. It was short of functionality and not very stable. The developers believe that the upcoming release is much more stable and emulates a fully functioning Android OS. [via Android Police]
