Company premiers 55" OLED model

LG showed off a range of new products this week at CES, including a number of new TVs. Electronista took an early look at the company's 2012 lineup, which includes many 3D models and a 55-inch OLED flagship that stunned the crowds with its extreme contrast ratio and color saturation.

The OLED model, referred to as the 55EM9600, brings the best hardware features that LG has to offer. The television is said to reach 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio, though the metric becomes irrelevant with OLED panels. We were blown away by the quality of the picture, though we could not make a side-by-side comparison with Samsung's 55-inch Super OLED TV to determine if either was superior.

The company also brought its 84-inch 84UD model, which utilizes a standard LCD but brings 4k resolution. The display panel spreads nearly to the edge of the housing, leaving a thin bezel.

The 72-inch 72LM9500 is another high-end model, with a much wider stainless-steel bezel, while the 55-inch 55LM9600 brings a dual-core chipset to help drive the company's Smart TV interface and connected features.

LG has yet to announce pricing information for its upcoming televisions. Most of the models can be expected to maintain similar pricing to existing editions, however the 55-inch OLED TV leaves a looming question regarding the price tag.
